Position Summary

The Bioassay Scientist will be responsible for designing, developing, and validating bioassays to support the characterization, release, and stability testing of recombinant proteins, cytokines, and growth factors. This role requires a strong background in cell-based assays, biochemical assays, and a deep understanding of molecular and cellular biology. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in assay development, data analysis, and troubleshooting, as well as a passion for advancing biotechnological innovations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Design, develop, and optimize cell-based and biochemical assays to measure the potency, activity, and functionality of recombinant proteins, cytokines, and growth factors.
  2. Perform assay validation in compliance with regulatory guidelines (e.g., ICH, USP, FDA) to ensure robustness, reproducibility, and accuracy.
  3. Analyze and interpret experimental data, prepare detailed reports, and present findings to cross-functional teams.
  4. Collaborate with R&D, QC, and QA teams to support product development, release testing, and stability studies.
  5. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to assay performance and instrumentation.
  6. Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  7. Stay current with advancements in bioassay technologies and contribute to the implementation of innovative methodologies.
  8. Ensure laboratory safety and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 5+ years of experience.
  • Proven expertise in developing and validating cell-based assays (e.g., proliferation, apoptosis, reporter gene assays) and biochemical assays (e.g., ELISA, Western blot, enzymatic assays).
  • Strong understanding of recombinant protein production, cytokine signaling, and growth factor biology.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., JMP, Prism) and data interpretation.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for bioassay validation (e.g., ICH Q2, USP <1032>).
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with high-throughput screening (HTS) and automation technologies.
    • Knowledge of cGMP and GLP practices.
    • Experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
